Author, motivational speaker and conference facilitator Paul McGee educates companies on how to survive and thrive in challenging times—dealing with change, developing relationships in the workplace, performing under pressure, and inspiring others as a leader. He is often known as the SUMO guy after his SUMO book which became a best seller.
Paul McGee is one of the world’s leading motivational speakers on the subject of change, workplace relationships, leadership and customer service. He brings a fresh perspective to common sense.
Paul’s work has been endorsed by the Elite Performance Director of the British Olympic Association, Sir Clive Woodward, and he has appeared on BBC Breakfast television and is a regular contributor to Radio 5live.
Paul’s provocatively titled book SUMO (shut Up, Move On) became an instant bestseller, and his book on Self Confidence reached number one in the WH Smith Business Book chart and remained there for 24 weeks. He has also written further books including How to Speak to People Really Listen, covering public speaking, and How Not to Worry.
Building on his background in psychology, Paul aims to deliver a practical, relevant message that can make an immediate impact on people’s personal and professional lives. His approach is inspirational and humorous as he seeks to deliver a memorable experience to equip people with insights and ideas to increase their personal effectiveness and impact.
His clients include prominent blue chip organisations, public sector bodies and a leading Premiership football club.
Initially trained and worked as a Probation Officer in Yorkshire, Paul was previously an audience warm-up man on Question Time, made a prime-time BBC appearance on 'Joker In The Pack'; was a street-theatre performer in Hollywood during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
His Mancunian style of motivation is both practical and entertaining, as he addresses issues around dealing with change, handling pressure, motivating staff and delighting customers.
Paul’s goal is simple. He wants to help people achieve better results in life and have more fun in the process, as he seeks to deliver a memorable, motivational, moving on experience.
"In our twenty years of running conferences, Paul McGee is the only speaker we have ever invited back. That above all explains the benefit we feel we have gained from hearing Paul’s SUMO philosophy."
"I would have no hesitation in recommending Paul McGee and his SUMO philosophy to any organization who wants to engage a large number of staff in a way that provides excellent value for money compared to more conventional ways of training. The overwhelming feedback has been that the sessions were inspiring, thought provoking, humourous but above all practical in helping my staff make a positive difference."
""I saw Paul present at an international conference. He uniquely addresses one of the biggest barriers to personal and business development... our own minds. The SUMO philosophy was a unanimous hit. Very, very powerful stuff!"
"Paul McGee's SUMO message made a huge impact on our staff, so much so we bought them all a copy of the book! Inspiring and engaging with a thought provoking message that continues to help staff in both their personal and professional lives."
"Just wanted to say how thrilled I was with your session last week; the feedback has been incredible. It will be of huge value across the organisation and already people are talking of a follow-up event!`"
